3 March 2011 -- Stand Up, Speak Up: Guide to Public Participation in Belize was written by The Belize Institute of Environmental Law and Policy (BELPO).

The English version was published in June 2010 and has been well received by the people of Belize.  BELPO is proud to announce that the Guide is now available in Spanish.  The goal of the booklet is to help citizens of Belize actively and effectively participate in the decision-making processes that affect our country.

Public participation is a ‘use it or lose it’ right.  If we do not use our opportunities to participate or demand our right to public participation, those in power will make all the decisions without our input.  Our input, our voice, can make a difference.

The Guide covers three of the laws that provide for public participation, where to find them, and even step-by-step examples on to how use the laws.

BELPO is offering to present the Guide to groups and at schools.
